First it was the French Canadiens who knocked Philly earlier this week, now it's just the plain old French.

Our good friend Chris Vito (@chrisvito), who does a terrific job of covering the Union for the Delco Times, sent along this gem from French futbol star Robert Pires (I'm sure it's pronounced really effeminately).

The Union sought out Pe-reh as part of an exemption that allows MLS teams to bring top-notch overseas talent to the States without affecting the salary cap.  When asked about his interest in coming to Philadelphia, Bob responded with:

“It is not very appealing to me.  I don’t want to be difficult, but if I’m
leaving to take my family far away, I prefer that it’s in a beautiful
city.”

When pressed about Thierry Henry, a former teammate with
English Premier League’s Arsenal, who will join the New York Red Bulls
later this summer, Pires said:

“I hope for him that he can go out there.
Now that’s a beautiful city.”

A twofer!  Not only does he slam Philly, he compliments New York in the same breath.

What.  An.  Asshole.

Hate away.
