ESPN Stadium Food Study: Philadelphia Fares Relatively Well
ESPN conducted a study of vendor food safety inspections at major stadiums across the US, and Philly faired pretty well. Relatively speaking.
The stats:
–Citizen's Bank Park has 29% of vendors in violation: A few locations received critical violations for not having a food-safety-certified supervisor present.
–Wells Fargo Center (it's official folks) has 15% of vendors in violation: Inspectors found evidence of mouse and fruit fly infestations at one bar location.
–Lincoln Financial Field has 33% of vendors in violation: One location deemed "out of compliance" incurred two repeat critical violations for not installing sneeze guards on a buffet and not providing a hand-washing station.
Now, before you go getting grossed out, read the reports from New York and Washington.
Madison Square Garden has 61% of vendors in violation: At one stand, inspectors found "53 mouse excreta" (38 on top of a metal box underneath the cash registers in the front food-prep/service area and 15 on top of a carbonated-beverage dispensing unit.)
Verizon Center has 100% of vendors in violation: Mice droppings, a critical violation in Washington, were found at at least 10 vendors.
Oh yeah, and don't eat in Florida.
