The Phillies fired hitting coach Milt Thompson last night.  He will be replaced by Greg Gross, who held the position from 2002-2004.

It's obvious that Thompson was made a scapegoat for the Phillies' recent hitting woes, but let's face it, it's not his fault that Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino swing at the first pitch every at-bat.

Perhaps the first of many shakeups this week?

Speaking of sad endings, Jamie Moyer's career might be over.  [AP]

GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said (Moyer) had a sprained ulnar collateral ligament and a strain of the flexor pronator. Amaro said Moyer would be out indefinitely, but the team hadn't determined whether he'd require reconstructive surgery.

If he does, I can't imagine the 47 year-old Moyer making yet another return.
