Philly fans

You bet your sweet ass they are.

The Phillies sold out The Vet 47 times in 33 years.  Tonight, they will sellout the six year old Citizen's Bank Park for the 100th consecutive time.  Amazing.

There was a time when baseball didn't matter in Philly-  winning changes a lot.  The Phils' recent success has not only brought people to the park, but it's also allowed people to be baseball fans.  For us 20 and 30 somethings, being a Phillies fan growing up meant keeping a very dark secret.  It was embarrassing to root for the Phils, go to games other than opening day, or wear Gregg Jefferies jerseys.  With the exception of '93, the Phils made a habit of trotting out b-listers and aging stars (even that year they caught lightning).  Citizen's Bank Park gave management a very real reason to value winning, and with winning, the inner baseball fan in all of us was unleashed.

Tonight, a celebration of sorts, as the Phillies sell out their 100th consecutive game.

Who would have thought that we would see baseball without the backdrop of 15k empty seats?
