Quentin

ESPN.com's Jayson Stark wrote in his blog this evening that Phillies may be looking in another director a right-handed bat and outfielder:

All you need to know is that they continue to explore numerous options for replacing Werth. They've done what one source described as "extensive" groundwork on a potential deal for the White Sox's Carlos Quentin.

Quentin was an Arizona Diamondbacks castoff who made a splash with the 2008 Chicago White Sox, hitting 36 home runs and driving in 100 runs.   In 2009 and 2010, Quentin hit 21 and 26 home runs, respectively.

While Quentin lacks the pop and defensive ability of a Jayson Werth, he would provide a right-handed bat in the Phillies' lineup and can split time with or even start ahead of Domonic Brown for the 2011 season.   Quentin has two arbitration years remaining, and could slide over to left-field when Raul Ibanez departs for free agency after the 2011 season.

With right-handed options so thin this offseason, the Phillies could surely do far worse.
