Good morning, and welcome to a late August day in which we turn three non-news items into a blog post… sort of like what Doug Collins did with the 2010-2011 Sixers (about halfway through this post you'll be really interested, but by the end you'll be left wondering why you wasted your time).

– Ilya Bryzgalov will meet with the Philly media for the first time tomorrow. This should be fun. He's a bit of a goof and Russian, it's like a double whammy.

According to reader Robert, he was shopping in Rittenhouse yesterday. He's been in town since August 19th and has spent a lot of that time house hunting. Why this wasn't filmed for the reality show is beyond me.

– Reader John sends along the trailer for Warrior (you can watch it after the jump), a movie releasing in September that was filmed in Atlantic City and Pittsburgh. At the 25 second mark, boom: a black Flyers jersey. Never mind that they don't wear them anymore (probably did when filming occurred), this is the fourth time in just a few months the Flyers have gone Hollywood. Previously, Dan Carcillo's framed Flyers jersey showed up in Entourage, JVR and Co. filmed a scene for an upcoming Judd Apatow flick, and Holmgren sent the captain to LA.

Here's the IMDB synopsis of Warrior… in case you were wondering:

The youngest son (Hardy) of an alcoholic former boxer (Nolte) returns home, where he's trained by his father for competition in a mixed martial arts tournament — a path that puts the fighter on a collision corner with his older brother (Edgerton).

Nike Nolte playing an alcoholic MMA fighter? It's like the angels of casting descended from heaven carrying a movie script for the aging actor. The same thing happens every fall for Jason Statham: the angels bring him a script for a movie with an car-related noun title that requires a protagonist with a permanent five o'clock shadow. Personally, I have no idea how Valet hasn't been pitched yet. The angels are slipping.

– According to Tim Panaccio, who stopped cooking spaghetti just long enough to check in on his beat, there will be no announcement of the Winter Classic this week, despite an earlier report from Frank Seravalli. Franklin is now oh-4-two this summer (Stamkos and Winter Classic): [CSN Philly]

According to a source involved in the negotiations, no announcement is anticipated this week, after all.

Other sources told CSNPhilly.com that the Flyers had anticipated an announcement two weeks ago, saying that terms and conditions between the NHL and the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park were completed. Never happened.

As I've written before, I've been told the Phillies have been nearly impossible to work with in finalizing details (and cost) for the Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park.

– Finally, Scott Hartnell caught a foul ball at a Cubs game last night. Give it a little bump for the picture.
