Victorino_penningtonYeah, they'll get along just fine

Aloha. Shane Victorino says he will be filming an episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition today with Ty Pennington.

Let’s harken back to a previous post, in which we discussed ABC’s hit show:

These things always look great on TV until you think about their practical purposes. It's like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for sports fans. BTW- I always love how Ty Pennington will hear one thing 12-year-old Suzy says about liking trees, then build her a room that looks like the aborted love-child of the demented minds of R.L. Stine and Tim Burton. Does anyone ever ask what is the long-term suitability of this room? When Suzy turns 16 and brings Bobby upstairs, isn't he going to be a little weirded out by the moat and Alice in Wonderland-inspired animatronic rabbit bopping out of Suzy's headboard? Here's a gigantic, ridiculous home from Sears- good luck with the bills, taxes, and mandatory renovations. Move that bus!

So, using that logic, you can fully expect Victo to design a Hawaiian-themed room – complete with hologram sunsets, faux-volcanic eruptions, and an MMA fighter surfing lava – for a seven-year-old boy with epilepsy.

Move that bus!

  1. There’s one of these houses in Levittown. It’s a 3 story house sitting on top of early 50’s era “country clubbers”. Sticks out like a pre-teens chubby walking through the lingerie section at Sears. Horrible.
I seem to recall the family complaining shortly after they moved in that they couldn’t afford the bills associated with the house and moved out (or were forced out).

  2. Honestly who gives a fuck about how Shane victorino is spending his offseason? I hope he hunts u down, finds u, chops off ur dick and feeds it to his dogs. This site used to be legit, but ever since u went full blown TMZ ur blog fucking sucks. If it weren’t for all the women reading this blog for all the bullshit and drama u try to start with these athletes, ur page hits would plummet. Get a life. And get off twitter. All ur little tweet wars really brings out the inner-faggot in you and ur fellow bloggers.

  3. I don’t see this as a rip against Shane at all, just documenting his off-season moves, since most of the team is practically in hiding after the horrendous post-season.

  4. It wasn’t a rip. Also, there’s been one meaningful game played in the last five days. You try writing a sports blog under those circumstances.

  5. @ Evan- don’t read it if u dislike it. cb is by far the best sports blog in philly. reminds me of a local deadspin

  6. Reality TV eats dickstink.
Kyle did I miss the story on McNabb being benched because he was habitually late to practice and meetings and too lazy to learn another playbook (again)? We should kill some time discussing how big a piece of shit 5 has morphed into over the last two seasons.

  7. I’ve been asked a few times over the past year to recommend books for writers new to education or to social policy more broadly, and I thought it might be fun and useful to share this list on the blog. These are titles I turn back to constantly, both as references and as touchstones for my own thinking about education, public health, gender, race, and class. Interestingly, none of these books were written by policy wonks; rather, they are by journalists, sociologists, and historians with a strong grasp of how public policies operate in the real world.
