Morning Puck: Yinzer Hunting

I didn’t see much of the game. I was busy hosting a packed house at Drinker’s Tavern for last night’s Mighty Ducks quizzo– we had a three-way tie for first, and a three-way tie after an three question overtime round. A lot of threes… so we had three winners. But here’s what I do know: the Flyers won 3-2, and each time the puck found the back of the net, a raucous cheer went up from the Drinker’s crowd. Good times.

The best goal, however, was of course when Scott Hartnell commando rolled the Flyers to a 3-0 lead in the second period. You can see that goal here. After the game, Hartnell mentioned his #hartnelldown counter: [via @flyr3grl]

In addition, we had a Where’s Scott Hartnell?! moment, too:

Jesus, that must have been like fishing with dynamite– the ladies stand no chance in this scenario. None.

Bryz, of course, was his usual entertaining self post-game:

My favorite excerpts:

Q: Did you make that one save with your mask?

“What?”

Q: Did you make that one save, about six minutes in, with your mask?

“I don’t remember. No, nobody hit me in the mask.”

Q: (inaudible) this team. Last night you guys had a three nothing lead and tonight you got that hang off (inaudible). Last night you guys were coming back from three nothing.

“Yeah, it was.”

Q: How do you chalk this game up?

“I don't know what… what is chalk?"

Q: This the first time you’ve played back to back days here. Was it nice to get back in there after giving up a couple goals last night?… First time you’ve played two days in a row…

“No, first time was Anaheim and…”

Q: First time with the Flyers… First time this year…

“No, I played in Anaheim and ah (inaudible)… You gotta follow this here!”

Russian goalie have no time for your nonsensical questions.

Big win for the Flyers, who now lead the Eastern Conference with 37 points. And Claude Giroux leads the league in scoring… also with 37 points. 37s all around.

Here are two of your three winning teams from quizzo last night, Young Go Hards and Tibbles and Bits, both of whom received $25 gift cards to Drinker’s… and a round of beers on me (not pictured– Eskimo Brothers):

  1. No best goal of the night was the first goal by Briere as it went through TWO Pittsburgh players!! I felt they should have been credited with the assist

  2. Whoever does those transcriptions for the Flyers is terrible. Lots of mistakes and things marked (inaudible) that are quite clear at least by my ears…

  3. It would help if the reporter hadn’t asked an idiotic question about this being Bryz’s first back-to-back start, when Bryz started two games just last week in Anaheim and Phoenix. I mean, you would think (or hope) a beat reporter would know that.

  4. Just about six years earlier, Asbun and Law lined up against one another in a contest between De La Salle-Jesuit played in Concord, California. Law’s Marauders triumphed 28-19, en route to the 2006 high school title, with both backrowers contributing a try and Gainline.us specially observing that Law was ‘hard to tackle’.

  5. That is the fitting weblog for anybody who wants to find out about this topic. You realize a lot its almost hard to argue with you (not that I actually would needHaHa). You definitely put a brand new spin on a subject thats been written about for years. Nice stuff, simply nice!

  6. Good post. I study one thing tougher on totally different blogs everyday. It is going to all the time be stimulating to learn content material from different writers and observe a bit one thing from their store. Id choose to make use of some with the content material on my weblog whether or not you dont mind. Natually Ill offer you a hyperlink in your net blog. Thanks for sharing.
