Don Tollefson Just Keeps Fucking You

I APPRECIATE THAT!
I APPRECIATE THAT!

I’m having trouble (more so than usual…) writing coherent sentences today after being tits deep in Tollie all day yesterday. But since the post, more folks have come forward with their TOLLIE TALES. These are their stories.

Some people have asked to remain anonymous. I’m gonna need a coding system to identify all the people Tollie fucked.

Reader A checks in via email. He went on Tollie’s Super Bowl trip last year and, well, it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. The trip was described, in advance, thusly:

The VIP trip includes two tickets for seats near the 20 yard line, round trip airfare to New Orleans, hotel accommodations for five days, invitations to three parties or social events and a game day brunch with “special football guests.”

It was made possible through a donation by Don “Tolly” Tollefson founder of “Winning Ways,” an after-school program that focuses on career preparedness, anti-hatred and anti-violence for children between 8 and 15 years of age.

In addition to Conroy and Schmidt, eight kids from “Winning Ways” and three wounded warriors from the military will also be going on the trip.

With nearly a week to prepare for his trip, Conroy is getting excited about the three social events he selected which include golfing, river boating, and having lunch with retired players. He also hopes he will be able to meet retired New Orleans Saint Archie Manning or John Elway from the Denver Broncos.

And this A’s experience:

Kyle,

Follow up with Keith Conroy and ask him about his Super Bowl trip.  I was on that trip and it was a complete joke.  I’ve lost ALL respect for Tolly.  I took a friend on this trip, and almost lost our friendship as a result.  Was supposed to be an all inclusive trip for 2 for game tickets, RT airfare, hotel, VIP meet and greets and tours, ground transportation, etc. There was only 1 wounded warrior. A handful of Winning Way kids (all but 2 went home PRIOR to the game). I got my flight confirmation for the trip to NO the AM before.  Hotel was at least 30 minutes outside of downtown.  NO ground transportation, no meet and greets, no tours.  We got our game tickets maybe 2 hours before game time.  Got a call after the game saying to meet in the lobby in the AM.  Told him I had a rental car.  He said leave keys at desk, he would handle.  Found out he was busing people to HOUSTON and flying them on connections from there. I was physically unable to make an 8 hour bus ride.  He told me in person and via text to book my own flight and he would reimburse.  I was out of pocket over $3,000.  Plus, he tapped my credit card for $1,000 unapproved. I got a $750 PayPal reimbursement.  That was April, and the last time I heard from him. Lots of others had the same scenario. I paid for a package and had to pay thousands above what I expected, and got far less than promised.  He was even short 5 tickets for the game.  One guy had to charge his own, as Tolly’s cards were declined.  I got a call from one of the guys on the bus that Tolly was booking flights on the bus on the way to Houston.  And, he was trying to borrow money to pay for the bus on the way.

That’s the short of my awesome story.  Also had a friend buy 2014 Eagles tickets at a fundraiser at the Windrift this summer in AV. Looks like he may have screwed her, as well as the Windrift.

Keep up the good work.  He needs to go to jail for fraud.

Reader G found the website of yet another charity connected to Tollefson, tixr4kids.com. I imagine this is what it would look like if Saul Goodman had an online presence:

Someone on the Brad Fox 5K Foundation Facebook page comes forward with their own TOLLIE TALE:

Hello guys I am a little late here but I believe me and my friends were scammed as well. We bought packages for the World Cup in brazil next June. The entire process has been a bit shady and illegitimate and once we saw the news of his charities being questioned we assumed we are being scammed as well. Can anyone help us out? We have emails and text messages confirming the trip and payments we made but we do not know where to go with this info. Thank you for any help!

Reader Adam also has a TOLLIE TALE, though it’s unrelated to him fucking you:

I used to bellhop at the Desmond in Malvern during my high school days (2002-2003ish) and he was all buddy buddy with the owners.  Tolly would come in with different women each time and get free rooms/comps.  Typical local TV guy stuff, I guess.  Was always nice and put on a face when people were around, but when I was driving him alone to a local bar and tried to shoot the shit about the birds I hastily got a “How about you shut the fuck up and drive the van.”  No tip.  My 17-year-old soul never recovered.

Dude can go to hell if he is using charities like this to make a buck. Total scum.

NBC Philadelphia found a person who paid $4,500 for 2014 US Open and British Open tickets. They haven’t received any confirmation yet. His TOLLIE TALE:

Lou Berman, president of Louie’s Voice, an organization raising awareness on autism, says he and a fellow board member bought tickets to the British Open and the US Open for 2014 at an event Tollefson was emceeing. After paying $4500, Berman claims they received nothing.

“We received no receipt, itinerary, travel arrangements, confirmation, not even a thank you card,” Berman wrote in a released statement. “One of these trips we were going to raffle to raise money for our new foundation “Louie’s Voice” that provides assistance to children and families that suffer from Autism.  Our toy drive will likely be cancelled this year as we don’t have the funds to put on the event, because we were hoping to auction the trip to raise money. We are devastated that this has happened to us.  So many children who suffer from autism will be disappointed.”

NBC also spoke with Mark Sandor, one of our tipsters yesterday, who shared his text exchange with Tollie about getting his tickets. Tollie replied with his usual appreciate that! and pictures of him with kids:

Tollie’s voicemail box is currently full, but multiple people say his greeting contained a message that he has a medical situation and will be in touch when he gets better.

Joseph Tryon, the CEO of Hatboro Federal Savings, confirmed to me in an email that his bank made a $5,000 donation to Tollie this year that was supposed to go towards “[taking] inner-city children to sporting events.” I followed up to ask if the Hatboro Federal Savings ever received confirmation that their money actually went to good use: “At the time he did show us pictures of children at a sporting event.”

This is the web archive for Tollie’s One Child Saved website, found by commenter Mike:

  1. Where there’s smoke there’s fire as the saying goes…but as of right now this is all he-said-she-said shit right? Do you (Kyle) know if there is any legal or criminal action happening (haven’t read all your posts over the past few days)?

If this all plays out to be true and Tolly was trying to scam people (as opposed to just being really really bad at running this business) then I’m truly going to be shocked. I counted Tolly as one of the “good guys” for sure.

    1. Guesty,
Warminster Police for one.. who they say are working with a State department that oversees charities. Seems bigger than just Warminster

Tolly had the sportscaster “juice” for a long time… well paid, respected and recognized sports figure. Free access to all the games and locker rooms… someone else picking up the tab the whole way. That plan apparently dried up, so maybe this a desperate attempt to chase after that glory again.

Or maybe he has worse problems

    2. Trust me……none of us wanted to believe it!! It’s true!!! He’s no good guy by any stretch of the imagination!!! You’ll soon see!!

  2. Nothing I like more than the public dismantling and subsequent downfall of a loser like this guy. I just hope some (if not all, ideally) of these people get their money back.

As for the fellow who already went on the Super Bowl trip- somethings just can’t be forgotten… and man does that suck.

  3. Hold on…. All of these people have some pretty hardcore stories about how this dickbag really fucked them over for thousands upon thousands of dollars… How is this dude still walking around? I know guys that would break your legs off if you beat them for $20.

  4. This is all bullshit, tollie is a good guy. “Winning ways” sent a bunch of kids to Disneyworld last yr, they stayed at Bill Conlin’s house and a guy named uncle Jerry drove them to the park in a white van.

  5. I LOL’d at Reader A when he said he lost ALL respoct for Tollie. Why would he have respect for this guy in the first place?

  6. This is egregious. You can see what a creep he is on his blog: “Am i asking too much for every child to have safe and secure home environment? Ami i asking too much for every child to have a quality education? Am i asking too much for every child to have a decent chance at quality career choices? I dont think that i am asking too much. If you agree and want to help these children, please go to the contact us page and get in our database. If you’d like to also donate to our efforts on behalf of these children, email me at tollie66@yahoo.com. THANKS/DON TOLLEFSON

  7. The Louie’s Voice dude is at fault for not at least getting a receipt. His battle will be the hardest to fight. Then again, everyone going to jump on the bandwagon if they can squeeze money out of it. Tollie sounds like a less likeable Big Ern McCracken.

  8. What part of “charity” don’t you people understand? You want a first class trip – call a fucking travel agent. Tolly is trying to fund charities with obviously bo bo trips, but this is hardly fraud nor does it deserve venom when he’s actually helping people with the limited funds he’s raising. Maybe some people should expect less when their money is going to a non-profit charity? Maybe if a trip sounds too good to be true it actually is?

And Kyle – what kind of money have you raised for charity to drag a guy through the mud like this based on hearsay and a bunch of whiney stories from people who don’t understand the concept of charitable giving? Oh yea, and you desperately seek the credibility of the real journalists you rage on – how about looking into the other side of the story here by actually reaching out to the charities involved to hear the stories of the kids he’s helped from the proceedes of these trips- or are you only into dickbag one-sided reporting about Joey from Fishtown who hated his superbowl trip or whatever other lame complaints that dominate your reporting. Learn the trade of reporting if you want any credibility. This gossip shit is getting old –

    1. Your level of comprehension is stunning. When you pay for something that isn’t delivered, charity or otherwise, it’s a fraud. Some had less than stellar or promised experiences, some were shafted completely. That is a crime. Not gossip. Not an agenda. A crime. I could berate you until you killed yourself (thus doing the world a favor) and slap a 501c3 distinction on it and it’d still be (justified) a crime. With your level of comprehension, shouldn’t you get back to running the government? I hear you guys are back to work today.

    2. velol if you read Kyle’s previous post about this, which was extremely thorough and one of his more legitimate journalistic pieces, he actually does look into Tolly’s charities, including the fact that his charities’ partnerships with Wounded Warrior have never been official or legitimate, that none of his charities have filed or are registered in PA, examples of fraudulent claims of where donations were going and these various sports and ticket packages.

Just to let you know, fraud includes someone selling you something and then not giving you what you already paid for genius.

      1. This mostly seems like a witch hunt to me, based on loose complaints and gossip. Examples of people awaiting refunds for tickets/events is 100% legitimate – but complaining about the trips sounds like a bunch of weenies to me. Kyle sprinkling in gossip stores about the kid bus driver who Tolly yelled at, or the guys who bought him shots at the bar, or people now all worried about 2014 trips they have booked…..all hearsay and gossip at best. Maybe if Kyle would leave this irrelevant gossipy shit out of his stories people would give him some journalistic credibilty he desperately seeks?

Here’s a huge tip – if you want to take a sports trip and disguise it in charitable giving with the IRS (which sounds like several of the claims on here) don’t rely on retired sportscasters, but instead call someone who specializes in ACTUAL TRIPS. And for the pub dwellers – Wow, the local pub trip set-up by Tolly sucked or fell through entirely – whoooda thunkit? Fucking dummies. Tolly needs to watch his ass though with this stuff-

        1. At home
          Drawing pictures
          Of mountain tops
          With him on top
          Lemon yellow sun
          Arms raised in a V
Dead lay in pools of maroon below

          Daddy didn’t give attention
To the fact that mommy didn’t care
          King Jeremy the wicked
          Ruled his world

          Jeremy spoke in class today
          Jeremy spoke in class today

          Clearly I remember
          Pickin’ on the boy
          Seemed a harmless little fuck
          But we unleashed a lion
          Gnashed his teeth
And bit the recess lady’s breast

          How could I forget
He hit me with a surprise left
          My jaw left hurting
          Dropped wide open
          Just like the day
          Like the day I heard

          Daddy didn’t give affection
And the boy was something that mommy wouldn’t wear
          King Jeremy the wicked
          Ruled his world

          Jeremy spoke in class today
          Jeremy spoke in class today
          Try to forget this…
          Try to erase this…
          From the blackboard.

        2. Jeremy,

Not only is it fraud, but based on the stories I would bet he has pocketed money that he said was supposed to go to the charities. That’s the real shame. It’s not that people are not getting value out of their money, it’s that the money is not going to the charities. That’s where he will get in big trouble.

    3. Jeremy,

If his one sided reporting is getting old why spend so much time and energy reading and commenting on his site? Makes no sense. Cry baby

  9. Smells like fraud. I guess you can make more money lying about sick kids and wounded vets than you can selling used cars.

  10. Remember when Tollie went to happy hour with jessica savage? How bout when he took jim obrien skydiving? The best trip was when he took gary papa to chernobyl. Guy likes to drink and live on the edge…whadda ya want from me

  11. Guaranteed those were escorts he was bringing into the hotel too. Probably spending “charity” money on high priced hoes.

  12. SPORTS AFTER THE BREAK WITH DONNIE T AND BILLY V. The glory days have come and passed.

  13. Shouldve known something was off from the beginning, a white guy is trying to save inner-city kids, dead giveaway.

  14. The spin from his camp is that he was in a bad car accident two years ago that left him with a brain injury. He is currently in some kind of inpatient facility. Back in the late 80’s I would see him out and surrounded by young ladies. Word was that he was married, but got a lot of action. I was struck by how much better looking he was in person. He must have gotten a lot of tail back then.

  15. damn.. i’ll be honest.. i always had a suspicion about this guy.. the way he talks made me suspicious.. and how he would call into the local Radio Stations to promote his charities..

but i always just brushed it off, thinking maybe he’s just a good guy.

I will not start reading this website.
    Great Job,
    A Nobody in Montgomery County.
