PSMFO64 Day 11: Controversy Surrounds Blockbuster Showdown!

Kyle Scott | March 27, 2014

WE HAVE GONE TO OFFICIAL REVIEW! MASSIVE CLICK FRAUD HAS FORCED AN ADDED LAYER OF SECURITY! MIKE MISSANELLI BEATS JON MARKS BY TKO!

From the get-go yesterday, something was amiss in the 1-4 Missanelli-Marks matchup. In just a few short hours, Marks had received roughly 6K of the 7K votes. Both of those figures are substantially higher than other vote counts in the Field of 64. By late last night, there were over 18K votes for Missanelli-Marks when other games had only 2K-3K votes each.

Two IP addresses spammed the system and generated… carry the 2… 15,641 votes for Marks. Here’s a sample of what this absurd CSV file looked like:

Whether by insane clicking or, more likely, an automated script, those votes swung the decision heavily in Marks’ favor. They have been disqualified. Missanelli wins, 1301 votes to 1090, 54%-46%.

We’ve added an extra layer of security as a result of the fraud. You may still vote more than once, but you will be prevented from spamming thanks to a limit of only one vote per 60 seconds. The committee has elected not to give further details so as to not welcome exploitation of the system
