Surprised Mario Hollands didn’t throw one into the stands.
The most exciting local sports thing to happen this weekend was the Phillies’ bullpen playing bocce ball during a rain delay yesterday. Just so you have an idea of what I’m working with for the Roundup this morning.
Let’s hit it!
But first, a word from our sponsors:

Cliff Lee will take the mound in an extended scouting showcase tonight at Citizens Bank Park. Scouts from around the league (and probably even the Phillies, since Ruben Amaro has no idea how that sort of thing works) will be in attendance to make sure Lee’s arm didn’t fall off during his recent injury. If it’s still attached, he’ll likely be traded by the end of the month.
Did Chip Kelly do something unconventional today? He did:
Eagles head coach Chip Kelly gave reporters a glimpse behind the curtain of life at the Novacare Complex during a June roundtable with reporters and revealed that he doesn’t believe in having any closed doors within his organization.
“We’re all Philadelphia Eagles,” Kelly said. “So there’s no place that’s [sacred or] not sacred or you’re not allowed to go. And I think sometimes in certain times, that’s where problems occur in the locker room, because coaches aren’t in the locker room enough. I think you shouldn’t have to worry about, ‘Well the coaches are here, we have to act any differently in the locker room.’ They should be able to behave the way we were all taught to behave: to be a good person, to be a good teammate, to be a good neighbor. That’s just part of the deal. Just like if I had my way – there’s obviously I think fire codes to it – there should be no doors on anything because you shouldn’t have to worry about what’s going on behind closed doors if you’re doing things the right way.”
Totally agree, Coach Kelly. In fact, no doors on the cheerleaders’ locker room, either. For the betterment of the team, of course.
FIOS gets a boost to make upload speeds as fast as download speeds. Here’s the official release, making it seem as though people actually care about this and not the fact that, you know, THEY’RE INTENTIONALLY THROTTLING YOUR NETFLIX. You’re literally better off watching on a VPN:
The Eagles have begun selling ugly Christmas sweaters (for $65!):

And why would you lug an iPad 3-4 to a golf tournament? That thing weighs a ton. Maybe if it was an air or a mini. But my wrists hurt just looking at that thing. Of course, my issue might have nothing to do with the image…
The Blue Jays and Giants are interested in Chasey. I don’t think he’s going anywhere, for better or worse.
Nick Foles wouldn’t talk to Buzz Bissinger, but he spoke with Reuben Frank.
Russia claims it detected a Ukrainian combat jet near MH17 before it was blown apart. Uh oh. This gets worse before it gets better.
“The Open Championship” at Lederach Golf Club. Happening now.
