Jayson Werth Charged with Reckless Driving After Nearly Doubling the Speed Limit

You know what, maybe Jayson Werth was just trying to see if he could match his contract total in millions (the infamous 127) in miles per hour: According to the Washington Post, the former Phillie and current National was charged with a misdemeanor for going 105mph in a 55mph zone on July 4th weekend. The Nationals released a statement that read:

The Washington Nationals have been in communication with right fielder Jayson Werth regarding this situation for multiple weeks. Jayson is cooperating with the authorities. As it is an ongoing legal matter, the team has no further comment.

But you know what? I feel for Werth. It’s gotta be hard to be an aging outfielder in a league full of young up-and-comers who you aren’t even faster than in a car (just another 5mph and he would have bested Puig). I fully expect — if personal speed and age play in — Marlon Byrd to be arrested going 320mph in a 35 zone. But maybe for Werth it’s all motor vehicle karma for ruining the Phanatic forever.

Seriously with the speed reference about an aging outfielder? Pathetic attempt at humor.

  • Scott from Barrington August 13, 2014 at 10:59 am

Brother Jim and brother Kyle, any word yet on the latest Jeremy Maclin injury?

  • TonyI August 13, 2014 at 11:16 am

I’m always amazed at the jaggoffs that have these cars that can do 200+MPH and really there’s no place around the states on-road to make that happen. It’s just a dick extension or a way to pick up a hot piece of ass!!!

    • Paulie Walnuts August 13, 2014 at 11:37 am

Nothing wrong with getting the ole’ bracciole polished….ohhh!..commendatore’!!

  • Sheckler August 13, 2014 at 11:21 am

Wait.. Speed Limit jokes pertaining to aging players. HOLY FUCKING CRINGE.

yuck, talk about an interesting article that completely bombed due to Jim’s inability to understand humor.

  • Kyle's Scott August 13, 2014 at 11:43 am

God, you’re such a faggot, Jim.

So along side of sports knowledge, we can also check off humor for the things this Jim Adair fuckface completely sucks at.

    • Bob August 13, 2014 at 11:56 am

So why do you come to this site? Your life must really suck.

      • Steve from KOP August 13, 2014 at 12:03 pm

Because he has absolutely no life.

        • Oh, Look!! August 13, 2014 at 12:41 pm

Jim and Kyle both signed on to defend their extremely gay tendencies and awful “sports” blog.

          • Bob August 13, 2014 at 1:53 pm

            You can’t buy smart.

        • Kyle's Scott August 13, 2014 at 2:02 pm

“Because he has absolutely no life.”

Funny, coming from 1 of 2 of the idiots carrying the water for Jimmy and actually defending this lame attempt at humor by poking fun at a former Phil who’s currently STILL more productive than at least 80% of the slop the current team fields.

So while Jim pathetically toils for page views by taking the lazy route and hating on a former player, cracking corny jokes about athletes aging and basically having nothing to offer but sour grapes, you 2 fuckheads actually think this dribble-for-content is a worthwhile contribution to the site.

It’s no wonder this site has collapsed into a fucking den of know-nothing hipsters who crave the tmz-like infotainment shit that pollutes this site daily.

      • Kyle's Scott August 13, 2014 at 2:08 pm

And to answer your question: because this site USED to be good, it USED to be about sports-related items like trade rumors, plays of the week, news about Philly teams, etc., it USED to be fun to visit for SPORTS. Not chasing Jason Werth, sniffing his panties and poking fun at the speeding tickets he gets.

Seriously, would you argue that this site’s content has actually improved over the past 18 months or so???

        • Bob August 13, 2014 at 2:23 pm

Its August. The Phils suck, the Birds are just getting started, the Flyers are in sleep mode, and the Sixers are already tanking another season. I think that sums up the current state of Philly pro sports. Kyle/Jim say the Phils suck all the time; are you not reading that stuff? It is nice to see you can post something without using multiple slurs though. Kudos to you for that.

          • Kyle's Scott August 13, 2014 at 3:37 pm

Kudos to you for almost not being a complete pussy and dodging my question entirely…

Has this site’s content improved or declined over the last 18 months, yes or no?

Has the addition of Jim Adair and his brand of zanny, hipster, I-don’t-know-shit-about-sports humor helped add value to this site, yes or no?

Let me guess: you have a beard because you’re so unique, you wear tight rust-colored pants and have a neon t-shirt on, right cool guy?

            Fuck off.

          • Bob August 13, 2014 at 3:53 pm

Why do you seem to care so much what Kyle and Jim put up here? Are you paying for it? Do you come here, see nothing you like, and get all pissed off? Maybe you post your rants instead of beating up your girlfriend/wife. If that’s the case; then great, please come back more often. I’m sure she’ll appreciate it until she wakes up and dumps your ass. Is the site better? I don’t think about it or care. BTW – I’m 61 with no beard. I’m about as far from a hipster or cool as anyone could be.

  • johnmatrix August 13, 2014 at 12:08 pm

i know the phillies suck, but people were saying the nats were going to be wayyy better than what they are. it makes me happy to see them underachieve. Jayson werth is a tool by the way.

  • johnmatrix August 13, 2014 at 12:11 pm

and of course its a porche. the cars little boys have hanging on their walls. he should have gotten a Z06, or a top of the line mustang.

  • Incorrect August 13, 2014 at 12:41 pm

.279 AVG, .380 OBP, 63 R & RBI, 12 HR, 5 for 5 in SB, and a killer arm, who’s also looked up to as a mentor in that clubhouse. Not bad for a “aging outfielder in a league full of young up-and-comers who you aren’t even faster than in a car”. By the way that “awful” 7 year / $126 mill contract isn’t looking so bad these days … compared to, oh say, three or four contracts on this team. Let’s take the blinders of jealously off, folks. Without his bat and arm, we may not have even won the World Series. Yeah, I said it.

    • johnmatrix August 13, 2014 at 12:43 pm

everyone knows that. doesnt mean we have to like him.

  • Bob August 14, 2014 at 12:42 am

Werth was probably just happy he could go more than 55mph on the Beltway; it’s usually a parking lot.

  • Your Mother August 14, 2014 at 8:15 am

Well let’s see. I myself have driven at over 100 mph before and was lucky I wasn’t caught. I don’t see this as a big deal. He didn’t hit anyone, beat anyone, call anyone a racial slur, drunk drive, etc… Yawn….
