It looks like “happy to go” wasn’t an exaggeration, and neither was “everyone is for sale”: According to The Boston Globe, the Red Sox have already turned down a couple of trade offers that would send Cole Hamels to Fenway. Nick Cafardo — who has a history of Hamels to the Sox rumormongering — said “look for the Phillies to reopen trade talks with the Red Sox on Cole Hamels. The Sox have shot down a couple of proposals already.” And with each rejected proposal, the Phillies’ reported asking price of “at least three top prospects” probably drops bit by bit.

  1. I actually have a few inside sources with the Sox. And they all told me the same thing. The Sox actually told Amaro, “Seriously Ruben, those prospects you are asking for actually suck. As fellow human beings, we just feel kind of wrong accepting your offers. Seriously. Do you guys even have a scouting department down there?”

  2. Heard Ruben asked Red Sox for even up trade Hamels for Barrington NJ former rookie of the year reliever, Andrew Bailey. Pure P.R. to get local on team. Sox said he was farmed out to the Yankees for a bag of used baseballs. Arm trouble and his career is in the toilet. Ruben still said he would do the deal.
