Ding. Ding. Ding.

Tony Bruno and Josh Innes will kick things off today, Wednesday, in their new 1-6 time slot on WIP, where they’ll go head-to-head with Mike Missanelli (2-6). Yesterday, Mike finally responded to the chatter coming from the WIP camp:

“I think I need to make an editorial statement. Ya know I been hearing about all this uh … a lot about, Martinez, this so called ‘challenge’ from another station. I take exception to the word challenge. Was it a challenge when Grenada tried to war with the United States? Wasn’t a challenge was it?

Here’s my statement for the Crossing Broads of the world and the twitiots who keep picking this scab: On the evening drive, Philadelphia fans deserve a lot more than a clown show. Alright. And loud squeaky chairs and fake bluster is just sound that signifies nothing. You wanna listen to a clown show? Go ahead and knock yourself out. We’ll continue to do what we do, which is provide informative, interesting, and entertaining radio for the greatest fans in the world. The fans that made this show number one. We’re in this together. You’re still with us.”

Tony and Josh had responses on the Twitter machine:

Fast-forward to me, circa 2 p.m. today:

This is the first acknowledgement of the competition by Missanelli, and it’s one of the first times that he’s even addressed the existence of Josh Innes to his listeners. But Tony and Josh will have a lot of work to do if they want to beat Mike. As you know, he’s the reigning ratings champ in the time slot. This will be a new fight, for sure, but Mike comes in as the favorite. And regardless of how things progress, it’s nice to see he’s finally giving his thoughts about the competition on-air instead of injecting them into my inbox on a weekly basis. NEED ME THE MAESTRO:
