Last year, before the draft, the word was that the Sixers wanted Andrew Wiggins, and they were willing to do anything to get him. The prevailing pre-draft rumor was that the Sixers would give up the third pick, the tenth pick, the 39th pick, and Thad Young to get Wiggins. Now, before the draft a full year later, some light daydreaming is happening on Twitter that the Sixers could take Okafor with the third pick in the draft (maybe packaged with another pick) and flip him to Minnesota for Wiggins. Would Minnesota do that deal? Probably not. Even though it would give Minny a frontcourt of Karl-Anthony Towns and Jahlil Okafor. It’s a fun little thought to have, since it looks like D’Angelo Russell might be off the board. But like last year, it’s just a thought.
So let’s look at what that 3/10/39/Thad group became:
Are there still those people who would give that up for Wiggins? Sure, but Sam Hinkie isn’t one of them. It’s going to be a fun couple of weeks though.
