From the black hole that is the Phillies’ social media presence to the masterminds behind the Sixers’ efforts, it has become more and more obvious what good social content is. The Eagles are certainly closer to the Sixers on that spectrum – I’d even say they’re neck-and-neck – and that’s all because of Katie Tang, who was profiled on the Eagles’ website this week.

As the Eagles’ social media manager, the Buffalo native “covers all the team accounts and oversees the social media strategy across the organization.” She’s been with the team for about as long as Chip Kelly has, so #Culture. Here’s how she got into the whole thing:

“I covered all kinds of beats for a school publication during my freshman year, and fell in love with the sports atmosphere. I decided during sophomore year that I’d very much like to be a part of creating those fan moments, and from there pursued a number of internships in the sports business, from broadcast media to agency marketing to public relations … The day after I graduated from college, I packed up my stuff and drove 12 hours to Atlanta, where I spent a season with the Atlanta Falcons as a full-time intern with the corporate partnerships team.”

And now she turns that experience into Tweets, Instagrams, Snapchats, Vines, and probably a bunch of other things that haven’t been invented yet, just to make your fan experience a little better. Here she talks about the best part of her job:

“Honestly, any chance I can make a fan’s day, whether it’s retweeting someone’s photo or posting a link to /r/Eagles or taking a selfie at a road game, is my favorite moment on the job. #EaglesNation loves this team so much, and I so appreciate every opportunity I get to share that passion and excitement with the greatest football city in America.”

Attention Phillies: r/Eagles is a subreddit, or online community, called Reddit, where people post/share/talk about the team… ah, never mind.

Meet Katie.
