You can see all of the highlights from Simmons’ game last night above, but here’s some more: Simmons shot 15-20 (all points in the paint) against North Florida (more on that later) and became the first LSU player to score 43 points since Shaq in 1991. He also added 14 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals. That’s one hell of a stat line.

Sure, it’s against North Florida, and so far Simmons has had big nights against teams like South Alabama, Kennesaw State, and Charleston. Not exactly Duke and Kentucky, though Simmons will play Kentucky twice this year. Still, he’s a freakish talent, thus far the consensus number one overall pick, and yet another potential Sixers savior, at least this year. I mean, numbers:

40 and 10

Ah yes, who wouldn’t want to use their number one overall pick on the next Michael Beasley? But all (unfortunate) comparisons aside, Simmons is a stud. Can’t wait until he’s sidelined after going 100 while guzzling Shirley Temples on his way to a street fight next year.
