After a disastrous game in Week 12 where they made enough officiating errors to get the league’s attention in the worst possible way, Pete Morelli and his crew have been yanked from the Colts/Steelers game on Sunday afternoon … and re-assigned to the Eagles/Patriots showdown(?). It was originally reported that the Crew was pulled from the night game, but they weren’t assigned there to start.

Pro Football Talk notes that this is really going to annoy Patriots fans, who think they’re always victims (unreal), but assigning garbage refs to the game hurts the whole product. According to Yahoo, some of Morelli’s crew’s problems last week included:

One of the more egregiously bad calls in the game was a roughing the passer call against the 49ers’ Quinton Dial on Carson Palmer on what looked to be a routine sack. Two other big errors in the game included a missed delay of game call that should have hurt the Cardinals, plus some confusion in the first quarter over what down it was in the game.

The game, at least on the Eagles’ end, was already shaping up to be a total shitshow, so I’m glad they got the guys who don’t know what down it is.

Some jerk put Byron Maxwell between a rock and a hard place and made him lie. That’s the only reasonable explanation for this, right? Either that, or we gotta throw him into the concussion protocol because something is not right up there.

And finally, the best quarterback in the NFL is coming back this weekend now that his shoulder is healthy enough. That is, until he gets hit in the second quarter and Sanchez has to come back in. That’s gotta be the over/under on it, right? Mid-second quarter? I’d take the under.

Kyle: Over. 3:28 of the third quarter.
