Video: Herm Edwards GOES OFF on LeSean McCoy and DeMarco Murray
Herm Edwards, Trey Wingo, Darren Woodson, and Greg Schiano got on the topic of LeSean McCoy, DeMarco Murray, and the kind of complaining they’ve become known for. Woodson had some balanced and rational thoughts on it, but Herm Edwards had no goddamn time for that nonsense.
Honestly, it’s hard to transcribe Herm Edwards’ rant of all rants here, because there’s no possible way I could do his passion justice. There are hand slaps, fist pumps, and YELLING. Oh boy is there yelling:
I get all that, but it’s not about you. It’s about being a professional and the game you play. Look, I was mad for TEN YEARS when I lined up at corner at every other team in the National Football League that didn’t draft so. So I get what they’re saying. You hate to be disrespected by a coach when they say “you don’t fit my system.” Well, you got something to prove? Go ahead and prove it. You ain’t gotta talk about it, just go out and go play. Play football, man. All this other nonsense? It’s a shame, because that’s all we’re talking about. We’re talking about two teams right now that are trying … one’s trying to win the division. The other’s trying to make the playoffs, and we’re talking about two disgruntled running backs that are stars …
They didn’t fit the mold of what the coach wanted to do. You [Woodson] played for coaches that you disagreed with, I played with coaches. I left a university because I didn’t like the coach. Didn’t tell him I was going. BEEPED THE HORN WHEN I WAS DRIVING BY THE FACILITY AND WENT SOMEWHERE ELSE. But I didn’t sit there any bellyache about it …
[On social media]: See that button right there? You know what that say? DON’T PRESS SEND!
It is different now … You’re still a professional football player. A professional, man, Don’t lose sight of that … You ask me ‘Coach, you wanna go back and coach?’ NO! I DON’T WANNA COACH THIS. Because THIS AIN’T PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL, MAN. It ain’t about you. It’s NOT ABOUT YOU anymore. The players think it’s all about them. It ain’t about them.
We give players passes, because what do we do for a living. Media? We love this. THIS HURTS ME when I have to see players doing this … It hurts me that they put their own identity, their own egos in front of the team. Because this is a team game, man … It’s about the guys in the locker room who gotta answer the question ‘You see what Shady said about your coach?’ They ain’t talking about football. They’re talking about nonsense. If I didn’t work here, I’d walk off this stage right now because I’m tired of talking about this, man.
