One of the Phillies’ best young players – and therefore best trade chips – is on his way out of town. Ken “100 Miles” Giles has been dealt to the Astros for Vincent Velasquez, Brett Oberholtzer, Derek Fisher, and one more prospect as yet unnamed.

Velasquez was the Astros’ fourth ranked prospect. A 23-year-old righty with power but control issues, Velasquez is a possible starter in the long-term, but could fall back into a relief role. Oberholtzer could fit right into the Phillies’ rotation (and has started 42 MLB games in three seasons), while Fisher – the Astros’ number eight prospect – hit .275/.364/.482 in class A last year. Defensively, he’s “limited.” The Phillies will also reportedly receive a fourth, as yet unnamed, prospect.

Overall, it may be a move that’s not too notable, but by dealing one of their brightest young stars for FOUR young talents, Matt Klentak is showing he’s at least got an eye towards the (near) future.

UPDATE: Trade is official, with slightly different assets.
