Though rumors of the Raiders being on the way may still be true, Las Vegas has not had a professional sports team since the Outlaws of the XFL. That drought is reportedly coming to an end. An AP source “with direct knowledge of the NHL’s decision” said the league has decieed to award it’s expansion franchise to Las Vegas, “provided organizers can come up with a $500 million fee.” Vegas beat out Quebec City. An additional source said it was a “done deal” and the team would begin play in the 2017-18 season at the earliest.

It’s still to be seen if putting a pro team in the gambling capital of the U.S. will begin to loosen the perspective on sports gambling, but some people are gonna make good money betting against that expansion team in year one.

Kyle: Maybe they can play at the DraftKingsFanDuel Arena, with gambling and fantasy payout kiosks located in the concourse.
