Your Monday Morning Roundup
What a weekend. Everything has to have a label. Terrorism. Hate crime. Troubled individual. The media spends more effort trying to categorize the nature of what happened rather than digging into the issues behind what led to it. Fact is, what happened in Orlando was all three. It was a lone wolf acting in the name of ISIS against gays. The trifecta. So here’s a label: Fucked up. The world is fucked up. America is fucked up. Regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum – from Ted Cruz to Bernie Sanders and the floating points of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton wherever is politically expedient in-between – you can’t deny that something has to be done, on all fronts– gun control, mental health, security. All three failed here. The killer used legally purchased guns to kill 49 people and injure many more after he was cleared by the FBI for terroristic ties and his actions brushed aside by his employer because he was Muslim. Again, the trifecta. A trifecta of failure. What’s more is that officials and the media will attempt to determine whether or not he was affiliated with ISIS, thus completely missing the point that he is ISIS, whose stated goal is to inspire the sort of hate on display early Sunday morning. One not need to fall somewhere in a chain of command to be considered an ISIS fighter. Some Middle Eastern cabal need not orchestrate an attack. The mere fact that he was inspired by ISIS propaganda makes him one of their own. That’s the failure by western nations, particularly the US, to understand the sort of threat the world faces.

The roundup:
Nelson Agholor. Les Bowen would have you believe no one ever tells me anything. Of course, I was first the report that the two teammates present at da club with Agholor when he was accused of rape were Connor Barwin and Fletcher Cox. Both have since issued statements. Barwin says he left before the incident and had no knowledge of it. Cox’s statement was a bit more… vague:
A source tells me that the police report is bad. It includes the detail that Cox, while not involved in the incident, was involved in damage control afterwards and offered to pay off the stripper to keep her quiet. Presumably, he was offering whatever sum was reportedly in dispute after a champagne room negotiation went south.
Cox’s agent did not respond to an email requesting comment.
So, Mickey Moniak is the man, right?

I actually saw this guy in the Diamond Club at the Phillies game a few weeks ago. Of course he was in the Diamond Club. Where else does a Philly super fan, apparently with large sums of money, sit? I look forward to him becoming a quasi-famous courtside luminary once the Sixers become contenders.
We get Dave Spadaro and Spuds Light, while Giants fans get Kate Mara’s tight-cheeked twin:

He will go down as one of the more unheralded great players in Philly sports history. It sucks they had to trade him.
Curiously want one of these:
