Jahlil Okafor Fires Back at "Fraudulent" Report
OH YEAH WE HAVE PLAYER-MEDIA DISCORD– MY FAVORITE OF ALL THE DISCORDS!
This is becoming not the greatest reporting week for Tom Moore of the Courier-Post. On Friday, he reported that Dario Saric may not come over to the US and play for the Sixers next season, citing a source who seemed to be mostly regurgitating speculation that has already existed about Saric’s situation. The next day, Saric told a reporter he was coming.
Yesterday, Moore reported that Okafor was upset that Bryan Colangelo tried to trade him. Last night, Big Jah punched back:
YESSSSS. YESSSSSSS. FAN THOSE FLAMES FOR MY BLOGGING DESIRES!
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a local beat reporter have two reports denied by players in consecutive days like this. Even the Flyers used to give Tim Panaccio a few days between discrediting Tweets.
Okafor, of course, could just be trying to smooth things over here. But I kind of take him at his word. That response seemed visceral and not scripted. Hell, maybe it is best to keep him around and find a way to use all of these big men. Can never have to much of a good thing, right? Bryan Colangelo said as much on TV during the Sixers’ Summer League game last night, indicating that the Sixers could go into next season with both Okafor and Nerlens Noel due to obvious injury concerns with Joel Embiid. Noel is COMPLETELY ON BOARD ?, tweeting during Colangelo’s interview:
Never mind.
Noel quickly deleted the Tweet, just minutes before Okafor sent out his series of missives aimed at Moore. Looks like we have strife, baby.
