Tim Tebow Wants to Play Baseball
Tim Tebow just can’t let go: The former Eagles QB and t-shirt salesman is holding a workout for MLB teams later this month. Yes, baseball.
Tebow was all-state in high school, but hasn’t played the sport regularly since 2005. “Tim’s athletic ability, his work ethic, his leadership and his competitiveness were evident in football and will show in baseball,” said Tebow’s football agent, Jimmy Sexton. “Knowing Tim’s passion and desire, we won’t be surprised by anything he accomplishes.”
When your main abilities are “being a leader” and “being competitive” but not necessarily “being very good at baseball,” maybe it’s not for you. But who knows, Eric Byrnes made a career out of being that guy and Tebow is being represented by Brodie Van Wagenen – the guy who got Ryan Howard that $125 million extension – so anything is possible. Unfortunately for Tebow, Ruben Amaro has no say in Red Sox personnel decisions.
No matter how quickly he picks it back up, Tim Tebow is still a 29-year-old who has never faced a professional pitcher. His refusal to let go even though he has a cushy gig at ESPN is admirable, but it’s also what happens when someone grows up thinking he’s God’s delicate flower who cannot be told what he cannot do. More precisely, Tim Tebow has jumped the shark.
