Joel Embiid Finally Gets His First Career Win
HEY! They got one! The Sixers finally notched their first win of the season last night after taking the Pacers to overtime for the second time in as many games. The story, as always, was Joel Embiid. He had 25 points in 25 minutes, 7 rebounds, and shot 12/14 from the line. His only block was a chasedown that was actually a block this time:
16 of Embiid’s 25 points came in the 4th quarter and overtime. According to Dario Saric, speaking to Tom McGinnis post-game, he’s already a star:
“He is the guy who will one day, now he is great, but one day he will be you know really star. He got more than, I don’t know, 10, 12, 15 All-Star Game. He’ll be MVP of the league, because that guy, he can. I’m very happy because I have the chance to play with someone like him.”
Saric also talked about grabbing an important late game rebound:
“I think it’s in my blood, fight for every ball. I want to say I play in Philadelphia, here is Philadelphia. Play hard, Philadelphia real, Philadelphia edge. That’s me, you know.”
I love him. Highlights after the jump.
