Jimmy Rollins is Still Playing Baseball
In June, when Jimmy Rollins was designated for assignment by the White Sox, I wrote that the move was “potentially putting a nail in the coffin of his career.” But Jimmy Rollins will not go gently into retirement due to franchise indifference.
Jimmy Rollins has signed a minor-league deal with the San Francisco Giants, according to Ken Rosenthal, who is finally tall enough for the kiddie coaster. And J-Roll™ can make a little bit of money if he plays well:

If he plays well is a big qualifier though. Last season with the White Sox, Rollins hit .221 in just 41 games before being DFA’d. Minor league deal or not, my money would not have been on Rollins to be the first out of himself, Utley, and Howard to sign a deal for next season.
