#RaiseTheCat Has Gone Full Mainstream
If you’ve been paying attention to Twitter after Sixers wins this year, you already know about #RaiseTheCat – a movement started when Dennis “@GipperGrove” Grove tried to mimic Ben Simmons’ cat sitting on his head. Last week, the trend got picked up by CSN and PhillyVoice. This week, it’s gone full mainstream.
Currently, Raise the Cat is the third story on ESPN’s Snapchat story (the text is from the AP report on it here). This weekend, Ben Simmons himself raised the cat:

But an even bigger deal happened this morning on Breakfast on Broad when Tim Panaccio raised his puss in his 50’s Italian living room:

And you can add that to the smattering of recognition it has gotten, compiled below:
ICYMI, it was a bonkers weekend for #RaiseTheCat led by @GipperGrove & now you can support @phillypaws w/ the shirt: https://t.co/uk0NiFOBzX pic.twitter.com/sbkouiANt7

Last year, Sam Hinkie resigned, we were still unsure of Joel Embiid’s health, and we knew we had a shot at the number one pick and Ben Simmons. Now Embiid is a star, Simmons hasn’t even played yet, and we’re all taking pictures of ourselves raising cats in the air. It’s weird, and it’s only going to get weirder.
