Coming in 1-1, the Eagles are diving back into the NFC East in week 3 as they square off against the New York Giants in the first game of the 2017 season at Lincoln Financial Field. The Giants are reeling and are desperate for a win as they come in 0-2. For the birds, many think this is also a must-win game as well. See how the CB staff thinks this afternoon’s game will go.

First, let’s look the inactives for both teams today, starting with the Eagles:

And for the Giants:

Additionally, the Giants tweeted out some line-up changes, to fill the positions for the aforementioned inactives:

Now off the field, all eyes will be on the National Anthem and how teams handle it following President Trump’s comments last week. The Eagles will reportedly be putting on some unity demonstration:

According to Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated, Fox will air the anthem for the game, so we will get the chance to see what the Eagles and the Giants do during the Star Spangled Banner.

Check back on this thread all afternoon for in-game updates as the Eagles look to win their home opener.

4:35pm: That was a good one… Some final stats:

Wentz 21-31, 176 yards, 1 TD

Smallwood 12 carries, 71 yards

Manning 35-47, 366 yards, 3 TDs, 2 INTs

4:27pm: HE MADE IT. Jake Elliot drills the longest field goal in the history of the Linc with time expiring. Eagles win 27-24 and improve to 2-1. Giants fall to 0-3. RIP. Watch again and again and again:

4:26pm: One second left. 61 yard attempt for the win….

4:23pm: Giants shoot themselves in the foot with two penalties and good defense by the Eagles forces a punt. It was a shank and Eagles take over with 13 seconds left on own 38 yard line.

4:15pm: Eagles fail to pick up the first down and force to take a 47-yard field goal and…he drilled it! Questionable play call on the third down with really just one option for Wentz to throw to. Nonetheless, 24-24 with :51 left in 4th quarter. Is that TOO much time for Eli and the Giants? They’ll start at their own 25-yard line.

4:07pm: Eagles offense is driving, but Giants scored 13 points coming in to today and have scored 24 just in the fourth quarter…only things the Eagles allow happen.

4:04pm: Giants drive deep into Eagles territory, but birds hold them to a 41-yard field. Giants lead 24-21 with 3:08 left in the 4th quarter. This is Carson Wentz’s time to shine.

3:54pm: Just like that the Eagles strike back, thanks in large part to a defensive pass interference call against the Giants. Corey Clement then runs it in from 15 yards out to tie the game at 21. I think Eagles need a QUICK three and out here from the Giants who will start at their own 25-yard line after a touchback.

3:49pm: Welp. Eagles punt on next drive and Manning tosses a 77 yard touchdown to Sterling Shepard…Just like that the birds are losing 21-14. 7:12 left. Remember when I typed the words “seal the deal” just a few updates ago?? Good times.

3:36pm: Well here we go…Giants work quick and go Eli to OBJ again…touchdown. All tied at 14 midway through the fourth quarter.

3:32pm: YIKES…first play on next drive, Ertz fumbles running after a catch after Eli Apple pops it out…Giants take over in Eagles territory. PLENTY of time left.

3:28pm: Eli tosses a long touchdown to OBJ. Eagles lead 14-7 with 12:39 left in 4th quarter. OBJ pretends to be a dog and pee in the end zone…that results in a flag:

3:23pm: Alshon Jeffery with a drop on 3rd down to start 4th quarter. Donnie Jones shanks the punt and Giants set up shop on own 45 yard line. Now driving into Eagles’ territory….we may have a ball game here.

3:19pm: Jason Peters goes out with an injury on second-to-last play of the third quarter. Walked off under his own power. Three quarters in the books. Eagles 14, Giants 0. Have to think that an Eagles touchdown on this drive, would seal the deal.

3:14pm: Eagles defense bent a bit on the Giants ensuing drive as the G-Men drove deep into Philly territory. However, the Eagles hold them, force them to go for it on 4th down and Eagles force the turnover on downs. Great plays by Jalen Mills and Patrick Robinson to hold them.

3:04pm: TOUCHDOWN! After Ertz drops a pass in the endzone on the previous play, Wentz goes right back to him and the tight end catches it in traffic for the second touchdown of the day for Philly. Birds lead 14-0 with 5:15 left in third quarter.

2:55pm: Eagles Patrick Robinson picks off the pass thanks to a tip from Mychal Kendricks. Eagles set up shop again and REALLY need a score here.

2:52pm: After forcing a Giants punt on the first drive of the second half, the Eagles drove into field goal range, but missed the kick wide-left. It had the distance. Really no wind, just hooked at the end.

2:44pm: Eagles officially rule Sproles, Hicks, and Cox OUT for the remainder of the game. Hopefully just minor injuries and the Eagles believe they can get by without those three today.

2:29pm: A HUGE stop by the Eagles after a drop by the Giants in the endzone to end the half. At the break, Eagles lead 7-0. BIG stand by the defense:

2:22pm: Fletcher Cox is questionable to return with a calf injury. Eagles running out of bodies…

2:19pm: Our own Chris Jastrzembski gives an update on Joel Embiid from the Linc:

https://twitter.com/CFJastrzembski/status/912017689178202117

2:16pm: Uh oh times three…Fletcher Cox limps off the field.

2:07pm: Officially Jordan Hicks is questionable to return with an ankle injury.

2:04pm: More of the Sixers are at the Eagles game:

2:02pm: It appears Chance Warmack was benched and Stephen Wisnewski is now in at Left Guard for the Eagles.

1:59pm: Official update on Sproles: He is questionable to return with a wrist injury.

1:58pm: Interception! Rasul Douglas picks of Eli Manning to cut the Giants drive short. The already tired G-Men defense back out on to the field after being out the for the 9-minute scoring drive.

1:57pm: More uh oh…Jordan Hicks is reportedly heading to the locker room with an injury.

1:50pm: On the next play, Blount again and this time he does get in for a touchdown, then Blount is called for taunting, but score stands. Eagles lead 7-0 with 9:29 left in first half.

1:49pm: Blount with short yardage run for a touchdown…but it was reversed and ruled down inches short.

1:43pm: Uh oh…Darren Sproles heads to locker room with apparent wrist injury.

1:38pm: In between quarters, the Eagles deliver heartfelt message and get well wishes to Jon Dorenbos as he recovers from open-heart surgery:

1:37pm: First quarter comes to a close…goose eggs on the scoreboard for both teams thanks to lackluster offensive play. Eagles driving in Giants territory to start 2nd quarter though.

1:35pm: Eagles decide to go for it on 4th and 1 with a QB sneak and pick it up. Still driving at midfield late in first quarter.

1:21pm: Eagles force a Giants punt, but then go three and out themselves. Punt back to Giants.

1:20pm: There was some war of words outside the Linc between folks on different side of the Anthem protest argument.

1:17pm: Eagles punt on first drive, fail to down the ball at the one-yard line, but Doug Pederson challenges, thinking that they did. Wrong. Giants ball at 20 and Philly already loses a timeout.

1:04pm: Eagles start with the ball after Giants deferred.

1:00pm: Eagles did indeed lock arms, with police, military personnel for the anthem. I thought overall was a great ceremony with Navy officer singing and the fly over. Brought some tears to my eyes.

Take a look:

12:58pm: Eagles front office joins team on sidelines for anthem.

12:38pm: The leader of The Process is at the Linc for today’s game:

12:35pm: Fletcher Cox will serve as the other game captain today.
