Cornerback Ronald Darby suffered a really bad ankle injury in the second quarter of today’s win over the Redskins. He was carted off the field and it appeared his season might have been over.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Darby’s injury is a dislocated right ankle for now. He’ll get an MRI for any ligament or tendon damage soon.

Former NFL team doctor David Chao says this is the more favorable outcome for Eagle fans.

It sounds like if Darby fractured his ankle, his season would have been over.

Darby’s was just the latest in a series of scary ankle injuries that turned out not to be as bad as originally thought

Former Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III suffered the same subtalar dislocation back in 2014 and missed six weeks.

Just a week ago in Miami, Phillies outfielder Pedro Florimon suffered a similar disgusting ankle injury and was carted off the field. He should be ready to go for Spring Training next year, but there was no real timetable given for his rehab.

Just about a month ago, Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard suffered a non-contact injury that was originally thought to be serious. That turned out to be a sprained ankle and bone bruise.

The Eagles may have avoided a serious injury to their newly acquired corner. Six weeks is still a long time, but I’d rather have that than him missing the entire season.
