Beau Allen said his goodbyes to Philadelphia yesterday and now looks set to sign for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

Allen was a free agent, having completed his rookie deal with the Birds. He served as a key piece on an Eagles defensive line that rotated fluidly and saw little drop off with different personnel groupings.

For instance, and I don’t think this gets talked about enough, but Allen actually played 422 snaps last year while Tim Jernigan played 492. So Beau was actually in there 41% of the time while Jernigan played 48% of defensive downs.

BLG broke it down here:

Line depth was important in 2017 and Allen was a big part of that.

The Eagles are adding Michael Bennett and Haloti Ngata to compensate for the loss of Allen and perhaps Vinny Curry as well, though the defensive end can remain on the roster after the Eagles made salary cap room by cutting Brent Celek and restructuring Lane Johnson’s contract.

Cheers, Beau.
