The Sixers are undoubtedly a better team after their shocking blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Clippers that netted them Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, and Mike Scott. In fact, many are wondering in light of the move if they just became the favorite to win the Eastern Conference. Here’s how the oddsmakers at New Jersey’s legal sportsbooks reacted to the deal.

While the Sixers’ odds improved, oddsmakers aren’t quite ready to pronounce them the East’s team to beat. In fact, at DraftKings Sportsbook, the Sixers still trail the Raptors (+225), Celtics (+250), and Bucks (+265). There are a few of factors in play here. With the NBA’s trade deadline looming, there remains a sense of uncertainty as it remains to be seen whether or not the other top teams in the conference counter with a move of their own. For instance, if one of these teams upgrades its roster come Thursday night, that changes things. If the teams remain relatively stagnant, it’s plausible the Sixers’ odds could continue to improve. A few blowout wins if/when the team gels can change the dynamics of the market, and home-court advantage also plays a role. With under 30 games remaining, can the Sixers improve their seeding? Stay tuned.

As of writing this, you can still get the Sixers at +350 at FanDuel, which hasn’t updated its lines yet.

At any rate, if you like the Sixers’ chances after this trade the way Kyle does, now might be the time to strike with what is a relatively generous payout for what appears to be one of basketball’s most talented teams.
