During the first period of the Flyers’ 5-3 loss to the Washington Capitals last night, the home team welcomed Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper (still feels good to write that – real good) to Philadelphia:

A subtle troll job, or an innocuous and heartfelt salutation for the city’s new superstar baseball player? Hard to say. Harper, of course, comes to Philly from Washington after spending the first seven seasons of his big league career playing in the nation’s capital, and here’s what I do know – the sodium levels of those from the Greater Washington area are dangerously high right now. Here’s Capitals announcer John Walton on the Flyers’ warm Harper welcome:

Another jealous former lover, I see. By the way, John, babe, it’s 2019. Who cites batting average these days? I’ll take .230 on Memorial Day all day if Harper finishes in the neighborhood of his career .900 OPS and pops 35 homers, which is exactly what’s going to happen.
