NFL Insider Mike Garafolo was on 97.5 the Fanatic this afternoon with Jason Myrtetus and The Cuz, Anthony Gargano.

In an Eagles-related discussion, Gargano revealed that he’s heard of the Birds being interested in former Falcons running back Tevin Coleman, to which Garafolo replied:

Why can’t you just let me say it? I was going to pretend like I didn’t know that that was potentially the case and that I was going to say it and be like ‘You know, don’t be surprised if Tevin Coleman was on the radar.’ (laughing) You’re right, dude.  You’re on the money. Tevin Coleman is 100% on the Eagles’ radar.

….

I picked the wrong show to play dumb on, you know what I’m saying?

Garafolo also dropped the following tidbits, after the jump:

  • he does not see Antonio Brown as an Eagles target
  • he thinks Le’Veon Bell “doesn’t make a ton of sense” for the Eagles due to money
  • he thinks the Eagles will make a move for a “speed wide receiver”
  • RE: Chris Long, Garafolo says that “someone who has spoken to Long recently said that he was talking like he is going to come back”
  • he believes Nick Foles will be a Jaguar

As for Coleman, he was part of a 1-2 punch with Devonta Freeman down in Atlanta that was derailed this season when Freeman suffered a knee injury and later had groin surgery. That resulted in Coleman sharing the load with Ito Smith, and he put up career highs in rushing attempts, rushing yards, and receptions:

Coleman will be 26 in April. Garafolo believes his next contract will be upwards of $7 million dollars, which feels like it might be too steep for the Eagles. Howie Roseman traditionally has not spent a ton of money on the running back position, and there are a couple of guys they might be able to snag in the draft who could fit the bill at a much cheaper rate.

We shall see.
