Monday morning mood:

A fantastic way to start the regular season with an early sweep of last year’s division champion.

After Bryce Harper got some boos on Opening Day from drunks, he shut them up on Saturday with his first homer. It was a 465 ft. bomb. Maikel Franco and JT Realmuto also delivered homers as the Phils won 8-6. Nick Pivetta went 4 2/3 innings and gave up four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.

Last night, Harper went deep again:

And the Phillies took care of the Braves with a 5-1 win to complete the season-opening sweep. Andrew McCutchen also hit a homer and Jake Arrieta went six innings and gave up a run on three hits with six strikeouts and six walks.

What a damn start to the season. A few things to be worried about (some starting pitching), but I’ll gladly take a 3-0 start to the year.

Phils are off today, but they travel to DC and take on the Nationals in Harper’s return to the nation’s capital for two games.

The Roundup:

Without Joel Embiid, the Sixers defeated the Timberwolves in Minnesota. Jimmy Butler, as expected, was booed. Heavily:

He finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds in a 118-109 win. But the real star in the game was Jonah Bolden, who got more minutes with Embiid out. He finished with 19 points and eight boards and is poised to make an impact with the playoffs approaching.

Tobias Harris led all Sixers in scoring with 25 points, while Ben Simmons was an assist away from a triple-double (20 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists).

Sixers are in Dallas to take on the Mavericks tonight.
