Andrew McCutchen's Injury Headlines a Miserable Night for Phillies
There’s a lot to unpack this morning after another lost night in California for the Phillies.
Aaron Nola was tagged by the Padres in pitcher-friendly Petco Park, the bullpen blew up again, the offense didn’t (well, it didn’t do anything), and Manny Machado – the guy the Phillies didn’t sign this winter – provided the knockout blow with his sixth-inning grand slam.
Remarkably, none of this was even close to the worst development of the evening:

That would be the shortstop slipping out of the box and then failing to hustle down the line, setting up a heads-up double play by Ian Kinsler, one that also may have ended Andrew McCutchen’s season, after the jump:
I hope it is nothing…
Need another angle but limited video has me worried for the dreaded non contact knee injury that is 3 letters beginning with the top of the alphabet. https://t.co/aQh2NbvS1p— David J. Chao – ProFootballDoc (@ProFootballDoc) June 4, 2019
Limited video qualifier aside, it didn’t look good, and it’s hard to imagine that McCutchen will be back anytime soon. We’ll know more today, but ‘til then:
Pray for me. Please

Also be sure to pray for the Phillies as they continue to show no signs of life in the midst of a disconcerting five-game losing streak in which they are hitting a collective .182 with a .538 OPS while producing 2.2 runs per game.
