Madison Bumgarner Did Not Like Max Muncy's HR Celebration
The Dodgers and Giants are rivals, and, as you know, things sometimes get heated between rivals. That was the case today when things got spicy in the first inning between Max Muncy and Madison Bumgarner. Muncy destroyed this 426 ft. homer that ended up in the water and then proceeded to pimp it with this first-class look of self-admiration/slow trot combo:

I mean, Muncy just pisses on this ball, and, of course, Bumgarner doesn’t like it. He goes right after Muncy and does his whole “play the game the right way” tantrum as he rounds the bases, which, of course, is stupid. Personally, I’m of the mindset that:
- This is good for baseball and just an example of a competitor competing, getting himself and his teammates fired up.
- If you don’t want a hitter to completely emasculate you as he rounds the bases, don’t let him hit it out. It’s that simple.
I don’t get why guys like Bumgarner get upset about stuff like this. I don’t get why anyone gets upset about stuff like this. Muncy knows what I’m saying.
Muncy: “Bumgarner said ‘don’t watch the ball, run’, and I just told him if he doesn’t want me to watch the ball, go get it out of the ocean.”

Cold-blooded.
To be fair, I was getting set to go all-in on Bumgarner, but I did respect what he had to say after the game, even if I don’t fundamentally agree with it:
Bumgarner: “I can’t even say it with a straight face but the more I think about it, I should just let the kids play. But I just … I can’t. … They want to let everybody be themselves, then let me be myself. That’s me.”

Let the kids play, let the old man shake his fist at them when they do. That seems fair, I guess, but as a guy who hopes the Phillies acquire Bumgarner, who, by the way, was dominant today against a potent L.A. lineup, I’m hoping maybe he will change his ways and take notes on Vanderbilt’s Kumar Rocker:
Kumar Rocker/Duke "Offensive Conference" Sequence (trying to mess with Rocker's rhythm).
My favorite part of the game.

If you don’t know, Rocker, a freshman, threw a 19-strikeout no-hitter against Duke last night. He shoves and you will likely see him in on a major league mound in a few years. In the midst of his no-no, Duke tried to stall in a futile attempt to disrupt Rocker’s rhythm. It did not work, and he let the Blue Devils bench know about it as he walked off the field. That’s textbook. That’s fighting fire with fire.
Get on board, MadBum.
