Woj Has News On the Sixers' Assistant Coaching Search
Your Philadelphia 76ers are down two assistant coaches after Billy Lange and Monty Williams took off for Hawk Hill and Phoenix, respectively.
Woj says Avery Johnson is in the mix:
Avery Johnson is interviewing for a job on Brett Brown's staff with the 76ers, league sources tell ESPN. Johnson has previously been a head coach with Alabama, the Nets and Mavericks.

Spurs connection between Avery Johnson and Brett Brown.
You probably remember Johnson’s Dallas teams of the mid-aughts, one that lost in the NBA finals and another that disappointed with a first round playoff exit despite winning 67 regular season games. He had a couple of poor seasons with the Nets and wound up with Alabama, where he coached the Tide to a 75-62 record, a 34-38 conference record, and one NCAA tournament appearance.
Johnson was, of course, a point guard who didn’t shoot three pointers, so cue the Ben Simmons jokes.
I think, however, that I would agree with this:
Won a title as a player and as an assistant coach, former nba coach of year and took that team to the finals as well. He’s fiery and competitive, it could rub off on our young stars, whats not to like?
