Sheil Kapadia is Going National
I missed this during yesterday’s announcement via Zach Berman, who revealed that he would be joining The Athletic for this coming Eagles’ season.
Sheil Kapadia, who covered the Birds for the site over the past two years, is actually taking a national gig moving forward:
As mentioned in the link below, I'm excited to transition to a national role. Will still be contributing to Eagles coverage, but won't be on the daily beat.
And for those wondering, yes, this has everything to do with me avoiding @Bo_Wulf's threatened cereal draft. https://t.co/k3ylyX2sMP

Good for Sheil. Unfortunately this new role resulted in him having to do an analytic deep dive into Dak Prescott’s career, but I guess it comes with the territory now.
With Berman’s departure from the Inquirer and the shuffle at The Athletic, here’s how both places are covering the Eagles this year:
- Inquirer/Daily News: Jeff McLane, Les Bowen, Paul Domowitch (beat writers), plus Marcus Hayes, Mike Sielski, David Murphy, Bob Ford (columnists), and whatever general assignment reporter is available
- The Athletic: Zach Berman, Bo Wulf, some Sheil
I have no clue if the Inquirer will replace Zach or not, but it would seem a little curious to hire another person while the company is in the midst of trimming its staff by 30 people via buyouts and layoffs. Still, the Eagles pay the bills for every media outlet in town, so that’s the justification for nonstop Birds talk and content during the season (and well beyond).
