T.J. McConnell Thanks Philly on Instagram: “I Can’t Put Into Words How Much This City Means to Me”

Former Sixer T.J. McConnell is headed to Indiana on a two-year deal worth $7 million, with $4.5 million guaranteed.

That’s a nice pay day for an undrafted point guard who found a way into the Sixers Process era and stuck around for a few years after.

Today he thanked Philly for the last four seasons in an Instagram post, which I’ve embedded after the jump:

“This city quickly adopted me and accepted me for who I was. The gritty boy from Pittsburgh.”

More or less. Didn’t take long for T.J. to become a fan favorite.

From a basketball perspective, McConnell was a scrappy a high-energy player, though he certainly had his shortcomings, which resulted in him being taken out of the playoff rotation in April. The Sixers will look to the combination of Trey Burke and Raul Neto to fill his role as the backup ball handler when the new season begins in October.
