The Jimmy Butler Sign-and-Trade is (Reportedly) Complete
Deep breath, Sixers fans.
The Jimmy Butler sign-and-trade with Miami is reportedly all good now, after a third team hiccup was resolved.
Per Woj:
Jimmy Butler deal is complete with Heat — with Clippers added as a fourth-team in trade that also includes Philadelphia and Portland, league sources tell @ZachLowe_NBA and me.

Maurice Harkless is on his way to Clippers in the deal, league source tells ESPN.

Alright, so here’s what happened:
- Dallas apparently backed out of the deal because of confusion on what they were receiving from Miami
- Miami, in turn, sent Hassan Whiteside to Portland for Maurice Harkless and Meyers Leonard
- Harkless was then sent to the Clippers along with a protected 2023 first-round pick
- That allowed everything to match up money-wise, bringing Josh Richardson to Philly and sending Jimmy Butler to Miami on a four-year, $142 million dollar deal
There you have it. All good now.
