Doug Pederson Believes the 2019 Eagles are the Most Talented Team He's Coached
Doug Pederson was given a great opportunity this morning, the opportunity to appear alongside a man who cannot and will not be muted. I’m talking about the indomitable Angelo Cataldi on Sports Radio 94 WIP.
The head ball coach was asked if he’s made up his mind regarding Carson Wentz’s Thursday playing status, to which he replied “yes,” but would not divulge what exactly that decision is. The running theory is that Wentz won’t be playing tomorrow night.
But that’s not what this story is about. It’s about another question towards the end of the interview, asking Doug if this was “the best roster he’s had” in four years of coaching the team.
Pederson:
“It is. It is, and not not just the 11 defensive guys and the 11 offensive guys, it’s the backup guys now. It’s the guys that have played. The guys like Rasul Douglas and Sidney Jones that are coming into their own, even a guy like Tre Sullivan who got valuable time last year. I’m talking about these young guys that give us depth, gives us competition, and then some of the free agents we’ve added, and of course the draft picks. You look at Andre Dillard and what he has done, and sitting behind and watching Jason Peters every day in practice. Then of course DeSean Jackson, Zach Brown, a linebacker who is going to give us depth at that spot. Malik Jackson, these guys, just, I just go on and on about some of these guys that are going to give us a lot of depth… and we’re deep at wide receiver this year. So there’s gonna be some tough decisions to make at the end of camp.”
