Report: Flyers and Ivan Provorov Trying to "Finalize" Contract
Let’s get ready for some hockey action, yo.
As the Flyers season nears, TSN’s Bob McKenzie is reporting that the team is close to finalizing a contract with defenseman Ivan Provorov:
PHI and RFA D Ivan Provorov working hard today to try to finalize a contract. Three and six year deals both still on the table. Talks continue.

Provy enters his fourth NHL season having played 82 games in three straight years. His production dropped off a bit last year, from 41 points to 26, while the Flyers shuffled through coaching changes and inconsistent play on the ice.
Jason Myrtetus, who recently joined Anthony and Russ on the Snow the Goalie podcast, predicts that the Flyers will give Provorov three years at a $6.25 million average annual value while handing Travis Konecny a three year deal worth $4.25m AAV. For what it’s worth, $6.25 million would put Provy in the Ryan Ellis and Keith Yandle territory of defenseman, hovering right around the top 20, and would also make him the Flyers’ highest-paid d-man, edging out veteran Matt Niskanen. Going higher gets you into the Mark Giordano and Brent Seabrook range, right at the top 15.
$4.25 mill for Konecny would bring him about level to what Coots is earning right now.
Standing by for more news and updates, but in the meantime, check out the STG interview with Alain Vigneult:
