Short week for the Birds.

Sounds like the Lions game film is going right into the trash can, where it belongs. That’s according to head ball coach Doug Pederson, who said this today when asked by Nick Fierro if he had a chance to look at the penalty called on Malcolm Jenkins during the field goal block and return:

I just saw the clip on tape. We have actually been focused on Green Bay today. We won’t watch this game at all. We are getting ready for Green Bay right now. So I haven’t really spent any time looking at it.

Good idea. On to the next one, as the kids say.

More notes from Doug’s day-after press conference:

  • Andre Dillard is “okay”
  • he did not have information on Ronald Darby, though Ian Rapoport says the cornerback is “expected to miss some time… likely a few games”
  • he agrees with the offensive pass interference calls
  • Jason Peters was dealing with nausea and is fine now
  • he’s not concerned with Fletcher Cox’s performances thus far
  • because of the short week, the Eagles will do walkthroughs and “mental reps” this week
  • he is “optimistic” regarding Alshon Jeffery, which is the same exact thing he said last week

Doug also had this exchange, which was pretty good:

Q. When you have that many drops in a game, are there teaching points, or do you try to make sure guys forget about it? How do you go about that? (Dave Zangaro)
DOUG PEDERSON: Teaching points? Catch the ball.

Q. Is it bringing the ball in or – (Dave Zangaro)
DOUG PEDERSON: It’s just focus. It’s just focus and concentration and we have to make sure that we do a better job there and we just continue to work it in practice, throw it to them, whether it’s in individual work or get on the JUGS machine, like guys do before and after practice. We have to continue to do that.
