Before the Flyers season began, media members were given a tour of the new Assembly Room at the Wells Fargo Center, a space that would accommodate standing room tickets that were priced at $25.

Fast forward a few weeks, and now some tweaks are being made to the accessibility of those tickets, which were being purchased and marked-up for resale on the secondary market.

Comcast-Spectacor will begin offering a portion of those tickets on gamedays only, holding their release until 9 a.m..

From the press release:

As part of an ever-growing collection of innovative ticketing options for fans, the Philadelphia Flyers announced today the Assembly Room Last Call, a standing room only ticket program that will hold 200 $25 standing room only tickets for exclusive release 9 a.m. every game day. These tickets are the first dedicated day-of-game ticket option offered by the organization and will be available for purchase in-person at the Wells Fargo Center box office and at PhiladelphiaFlyers.com.

“We understand that the Assembly Room attracts a segment of fans that may prefer to make more spontaneous decisions to attend a game, and the Last Call tickets ensure that these fans can access tickets securely on the day of the game without having to pay a mark-up on the secondary market,” said Mike Shane, Chief Business Officer of the Philadelphia Flyers and Wells Fargo Center.

“We also want to encourage a new, walk-up culture here at the Wells Fargo Center, particularly among our fans in the surrounding neighborhoods in South Philadelphia.”

This makes a lot of sense. My understanding was that these tickets were always intended for spontaneous walk-up customers and not the secondary market folks. This helps keep the price at $25 (plus fees, I believe), which was what Comcast had in mind when re-designing the upper level of the arena.
