Per the Flyers:

Ghost hurt his knee in the third period on Tuesday in Carolina. He was replaced by Phantoms call up Mark Friedman last night, who saw 11:49 of ice time in his second NHL game. Friedman was a 2014 draft pick.

With Justin Braun also unavailable due to his groin injury, the pickings are pretty slim on defense right now. Anthony tells me that Andy Welinski is likely next up on the depth chart. Braun should be back at the end of the month and three weeks would carry Ghost into February, so we’re gonna need Provy and Nisky and Travis Sanheim to hold down the fort back there while the other guys put the biscuit in the basket.

Edit:

Welinski is currently hurt, and the Flyers apparently only have about $500k in in cap space, so they can’t afford to call up anyone with an NHL contract in the minors. They have to roll with what they have for now and cross their fingers.

The Flyers also demoted Misha Vorobyev and recalled David Kase.
