Rutgers Baseball Flight Gets Delayed After Equipment Sprayed With Jet Fuel
Classic up and down day for Rutgers baseball on Sunday.
The up: Rutgers picked up its first win in program history against a PAC-12 squad in a 6-1 victory over Washington State.
Huge.
Hard to believe that never happened before, but good on them—hell of a way to close out a west coast trip before the long return flight home.
And the down:
Quite a situation here in Salt Lake…
Our bags were sprayed with jet fuel on the transfer to the connecting plane. Unfortunately it appears some luggage and equipment is ruined. Still assessing with @Delta on the next steps… pic.twitter.com/hdyLUXNII5

The ole’ Delta Airlines doused our luggage with jet fuel in the middle of the night story. A travel tale as old as time.
A tough break here for the Scarlet Knights here, no doubt, but they probably won’t be catching too much sympathy from D-III and JUCO players. Those dudes are riding around on donated 35-year-old McGough school buses, sharing trips with balls buckets while trying to avoid the discomfort brought by protruding seat cushion springs.
Fortunately, Rutgers arrived at JFK earlier this morning safe and sound.
Just safely landed at JFK.
The compromised bags did not make the trip and will be shipped separately. Director of operations @pdb2293 remains back in Salt Lake City working with @Delta to remedy the situation.

The Scarlet Knights are back at it tomorrow, sans some fuel-soaked equipment, in Philly against St. Joe’s.
