Jalen Reagor spoke with reporters via conference call last night after the Eagles picked him 21st overall in the NFL draft.

We’ve talked ad nauseam about TCU and Reagor’s funky and inconsistent stat lines, so keep in mind that the Horned Frogs were starting a true freshman at quarterback in 2019, which was a significant step back for a program that used to have studs like Trevone Boykin and Kenny Hill throwing passes. Reagor played in the Big 12 championship game as a freshman, when TCU finished as a top-ten ranked team, then Gary Patterson’s squad fell back to 7-6 and 5-7 during Reagor’s sophomore and junior seasons. There are a lot of asterisks you can attach to the film or stats he logged over three seasons in Fort Worth.

That said, here are some of the more relevant and interesting Reagor quotes:

On lack of production and playing with a true freshman QB:

“I mean, it was just a learning experience. I feel like it just gave me a chance to show what type of real teammate, real person I am. I mean, it was tough, but it was something that I wouldn’t make an excuse for. It was just something, you know, that’s how the game goes sometimes. I feel like it made me a better player, a better person, a better teammate in the end.”

Did he sense that the Eagles were interested in taking him?

“I talked to the whole staff – me or my agent – every other week. Just communicated with those guys, Coach A-Mo [Eagles WRs Coach Aaron Moorehead), Mr. Roseman [Eagles Executive Vice President/General Manager Howie Roseman], [Eagles Head] Coach [Doug] Pederson, and just talking to those guys and catching up. They stay consistent. No matter what the circumstances were, they stayed consistent. I know it’s a difference between doing your due diligence and showing real love and when you really want somebody. I can tell the difference for sure.”

“I mean, me and my parents kind of had an idea. The Eagles showed the most interest out of any team. It was a few teams that were up there but, the Eagles, they really — like I say, there’s a difference between I can tell when you’re doing your due diligence and when you’re showing you’re actually interested in me. The Eagles did that, and, man, they made my dream come true today.”

Is running a 4.47 at the combine a true reflection of his speed?

“I mean, I posted another time, too that I ran in my virtual pro day. I was heavy at the Combine; I picked up weight. I dropped weight and I ran 4.2. So all I have to say, man, like coaches tell me, like tape doesn’t lie. So I mean, whether it’s a 4.47, 4.28, whatever it was, I’m ready to play fast; I’m ready to make plays for the Philadelphia Eagles.”

Good fit to play in the slot?

“I’m good. I’m good anywhere you want to put me simply because I may not be the tallest, but I’m very strong on the outside. I play like I’m 6-4 but I’m 5-11. Like I said, I just feel like when you look at me, I’m not an inside or an outside receiver; I’m a receiver. So I mean, I can do whatever they need me to do.”

“I feel like I haven’t even gotten close to my ceiling. You know, I can play any position. Like I said, when I’m on the field it’s more than 11 players on the offense. Really just the way I play my game. I feel like it’s on film and it’s going to be fun and I’m ready to play.”

Here’s some more film to chew on:
