This Philly Special mask is a neck gaiter or buff.

Versatile accessory that can be used as a face covering, headband, bandana, wristband, and neck warmer.

The CDC recommends the use of cloth face masks to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus:

“CDC is additionally advising the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.”

It is important to know that these are not the N-95 or surgical masks needed for use in hospitals by health care professionals. Sale of this product does not deplete the supply of those much-needed medical masks.

A cloth mask also won’t provide the same level of protection as a medical mask, but cloth masks are recommended by the CDC for their usefulness in helping prevent the spread of disease.

• 95% polyester, 5% elastane (fabric composition may vary by 1%)
• Fabric weight: 6.19 oz/yd² (210 g/m²)

ITEM MAY TAKE 2-3 WEEKS TO SHIP DUE TO DEMAND.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of every mask will be donated to support Coronavirus associated relief efforts. You will receive an email detailing the use of those funds once they are paid out.

Some additional detail.

I want to call out that this does not, in any way, deplete supply from necessary medical supplies. These are produced by apparel manufacturers who would otherwise be producing t-shirts– this material is not adequate for use in a hospital.

However, we’re all going to be wearing masks soon with some frequency, and I predict the novelty mask market is going to be huge.

Consider this our contribution.

With regard to portions of the proceeds donated: We don’t yet know where we will donate these funds. Why? There is no shortage of people and businesses hurting right now. We’re going to wait to see how many we sell, how much money it produces, and then decide the best use of funds. We will update everyone who buys a mask how that donation was spent.

More practically, margins on these are not good. Unlike t-shirts, which are both cheaper and have volume discounts, the buffs are a relatively new product and are not cheap. We’ve included shipping in the price as well. If we can find scalable alternatives, more will be donated. And yes, as a small business built around something that doesn’t exist right now, we have to be somewhat creative on revenue streams for the time being.

Products are in-stock, but we are listing 2-3 weeks as the ship timeframe because we are waiting to verify samples and make any necessary corrections before printing these for customers (since it’s a new product).
