Let’s get it back to the Eagles.

Division rival Dallas isn’t necessarily closer to locking up franchise quarterback Dak Prescott on a long term deal, but Adam Schefter is reporting that Dak will sign the exclusive tender placed on him a few months ago:

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott plans to sign his $31.4 million exclusive franchise tender by Monday, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The two sides still have until July 15 to work out a long-term deal. The Cowboys had placed the franchise tag on Prescott on March 18.

The Cowboys made a long term offer in the spring, which was the reported five-year, $175 million deal. Chris Simms and others reported that Prescott wants a four-year deal and would only do the five-year deal if the final year was loaded with “somewhere like north of $45 million,” according to Simms.

The incentive for signing a shorter deal is because the existing TV contract ends in 2022 and the salary cap will increase, which means Dak can get a second bite of the apple instead of playing out a five-year deal that would take him to age 32.

In eight career games against the Eagles, Prescott is 5-3 with eight passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He’s completed 64% of his passes against the Birds and throws for about 235 yards a game.
