I know people are looking for any positive news to cling to, given everything happening in the world, but spreading false information about someone’s cancer treatment is incredibly reckless and shameful. It’s worth noting that while the headline “Brave Hockey Star Oskar Lindblom, 23, Completes Cancer Treatment– Fans Flood Twitter With Votes for Beloved Philadelphia Flyers Player” seemed totally declarative, leading to the spread of the story on Facebook and Twitter, the body of the story did accurately note that Lindblom was nearing the end of his treatment, citing quotes from Flyers assistant GM Brett Flahr in April.
We all hope for good news and things sound like they’re trending in the right direction, but he still has some treatment ahead of him. Our thoughts, prayers, and best wishes are with Oskar and his family as he continues his battle against this rare form of cancer.
